5 of the World’s Most Super Moms From Superhero TV Shows

Even in the world of superhero TV shows, there are mothers and fathers. While parents have often been seen as unnecessary to help create the main characters in comics, that trend is changing.

Today, contemporary TV shows are making parents the superheroes, adding a whole new level of storytelling and complexity to work with. Below are a handful of examples from some of the best moms in the ever-expanding library of the superhero subgenre on TV.

5. Wanda Maximoff- Wanda Vision

This woman is hurt and nobody does anything to help him, they only try to stop him. So when her powers created Billy and Tommy, it only made sense that she grew attached to these adorable cherubs.

While his trauma blinded him less than stellar actions, the motivation to want the best for his children can be shared by anyone who has ever cared for someone as much as they did themselves, if not, more.

4. Alex Danvers and Kelly Olsen – super girl

These two make for one of the best romantic pairings in any superhero TV show, so they had to share an entry. The journey Alex took when she discovered her sexuality is a cookie cutter for shows on The CW, but not always when capes and Kryptonians are involved.

Alex’s journey mixed with pure-hearted Kelly was a proven perfect match when they adopt and begin raising Esme.

3. Lois Kent – Superman and Lois

While being the wife of Clark Kent’s breadwinner is easy, being the mother of Superman’s children was no easy task. In a society that tends to force women to choose between a family or a career, Lois is just that great that she can do both (with Clark’s help of course).

Even though she’s the world’s greatest reporter and has seen her husband battle interdimensional monsters, Lois is grounded in her children and could easily summon her husband’s power to protect them.

2. Debbie Grayson– Invincible

Like Lois, Debbie’s husband is one of the strongest beings in the known universe, but Omni-Man is no Superman. The hardships Debbie endures for the sake of her evil husband and naïve son are astounding to behold.

Although she has no powers of her own, her will and determination are exquisite characteristics to have in a mom.

1. Angele Abar – watchmen

One of the most defining characters in all of HBO’s shows, superhero TV shows, and all of TV history. Angela suffered the same type of racist hate crime as her grandfather, so it shouldn’t be shocking to see her protect her black children in any way possible.

For her, that means becoming a police officer while disguising herself as a vigilante nun. While her husband’s spirit is usually somewhere in outer space, Angela always finds a way to stay grounded and do whatever she can to love and protect her offspring.
